The Tennis Net Base Weight is a 5kg domed weight that anchors down an adjuster set and ensures the tennis net is held securely to the ground. With the tennis net constantly being hit by tennis balls, or being played through windy and wet weather conditions it is imperative that the tennis net is secure and doesn’t flap around.
If your tennis court doesn’t have a ground socket pre-installed a ground base weight is a necessary component of a tennis net. You will be able to tell if your court does have a ground socket as there will be a hold in teh middle of the court with a small hook in it. Usually the swivel adjuster hooks into this ground socket however if it isn’t there a net base weight is necessary. You only need one net base weight per tennis net.
Net base weights are usually 5kg in weight and a powdered green colour as shown in the image above. The base of the weight is flat so it sits comfortably on the tennis court and doesn’t rock. The top of the weight is slightly domed-shaped. The top of the base weight has a hook on it so that the swivel adjuster can hook easily onto the device and secure the tennis net. The net base weight sits in the middle of the tennis net underneath the centre net band and swivel adjuster.
Our tennis net base weights are supplied by Edwards, the tennis equipment provider to Wimbledon. This is the highest stamp of approval a supplier can have and means that when you buy an Edwards product you are buying quality guaranteed.
